By RSLPF

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has been made aware of videos depicting alleged physical abuse of a citizen by members of the Special Service Unit.
The video shows an exchange during a stop of a motor vehicle where an officer made physical contact with an occupant of the motorcar. Despite the clear violation of the law by the individuals, this behaviour is not sanctioned nor encouraged by the organisation and goes against our fundamental principles. Unless necessary, to effect an arrest, defend life or property or other situation posing imminent danger, the RSLPF condemns any act of abuse perpetrated by officers during the conduct of their duties. We encourage any aggrieved party to report to the Police Complaints Unit, Brazil Street, Castries, where a thorough investigation and ensuing action is assured.
Despite this evidenced breach of acceptable police action, we wish to assure the public that we remain committed to providing a professional policing service, as we seek to achieve our mandate of crime reduction.
