By RSLPF
Ongoing RSLPF operations between November 22nd and November 23rd, 2024, in the northern region of the island, involving the Special Operations and Traffic Enforcement Team, have resulted in the seizure of an illegal firearm and the arrest of two males.
Police officers engaged a male identified as Gregg Pierre, of Piaye, along St. Louis Street, Castries, resulting in one (1) pistol being recovered. Gregg Pierre was arrested and escorted to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), where he was subsequently charged with Possession of Firearm. He was escorted to the First District Court where he made a bail application. He received bail in the sum of twenty thousand dollars (XCD20,000.00) cash or suitable surety.
Additionally, police officers executed a Warrant of Commitment and arrested Erne Nurse. Following a 2020 charge for firearm possession, Erne Nurse was fined by the court but failed to comply with the court’s order. As a result of his non-compliance, he will now face imprisonment.
Law enforcement officials also conducted traffic operations, with a total of one hundred and one (101) vehicles stopped for inspection. Of these, nineteen (19) were searched. The operation resulted in ten (10) traffic tickets being issued for various offences, and eight (8) vehicles, including two (2) motorcycles, were impounded for traffic violations.
