Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Association - Awards Ceremony, 2023

The Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Association held its annual awards ceremony on Friday
November 10, 2023 under the theme “ Celebrating Excellence”. The keynote speaker at the
event, Dr. Sharon Belmar-George, Saint Lucia’s Chief Medical Officer presented on “Crime as
a Public Health Issue”.

Dr. Belmar-George highlighted the impact of crime on public health and discussed the
relevance of the public health approach in the management of crime and violence. This
approach is scientific, evidence based, data driven, focusing on preventative strategies
ensuring collaboration with all stakeholders and multi agencies.

The awardees of the evening were:
Outstanding Physician – Dr. Aylwin Benjamin
Outstanding Dentist – Dr. Randall Boriel
Outstanding District Medical Officer – Dr. Delphina Vernor
Outstanding Junior Physician – Dr. Christi Gerald
Outstanding Intern of the Year – Dr. Kyra Joseph
Lifetime Achievement Award – Dr. Mehn Soe
Most Dedicated Team Member – Dr. Samantha Mathurin
