We are now into the start of the Christmas season, a period which traditionally Saint Lucians look forward to every year. It is usually marked by much social and commercial activities, as well as festive celebrations with family and loved ones. Though we are challenged in many ways by the current threat of COVID-19, we acknowledge the cultural value this time of year has for many.
The Ministry of Health wishes that everyone gives themselves and others the gift of health and safety this year. We encourage everyone to prioritize their health and take actions which promote well-being. Apart of healthy eating habits, limiting alcohol intake and not smoking, as part of the effort to achieving optimal health we also ask that everyone sticks faithfully to the protocols to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Whether you may be a business owner, an individual in the public transportation sector, a workplace manager, or a head of a household, it is important that you ensure persons within the sphere of influence you are responsible for, maintain habits to limit the spread of the virus.
We encourage you to model the appropriate behaviours and hold others accountable to do the same. - Wash and sanitize your hands often during the day - Wear a mask every time while in public and ensure it covers both the mouth and nose - Maintain the recommended six foot physical distance from others when in public - Avoid contact with other people who have flu-like symptoms - If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, keep away from others and seek medical care immediately at the closest community respiratory clinic.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness will continue providing updates as new information becomes available.
