Saint Lucian Flag-Raising Ceremony to be Held in Lower Manhattan

In observance of Saint Lucia’s forty-fourth anniversary of independence, all Saint Lucian nationals and friends are invited to attend a flag-raising ceremony on Wednesday, February 22, 2022, commencing at 11:45 AM.

Organized by the Consulate General of Saint Lucia in New York as a demonstration of national solidarity and pride, this event will take place at Bowling Green Park, located at 29 Broadway.

The day’s program will include remarks by Jeremiah Hyacinth, Saint Lucia’s consul general in New York; New York City Commissioner for Immigrant Affairs, the Honorable Manuel Castro, and New York City Commissioner for International Affairs, the Honorable Edward Memelstein. The president of the New York City-based Saint Lucia House Foundation, Mr. Mathias Wilkie, will also speak on behalf of his organization.

Rounding out the list of speakers will be several local elected city officials, as well as a number of foreign dignitaries. Saint Lucian entertainer Michel Aubertin will serve as event host.
