By SALCC

Three SALCC alumni formed part of the 2025 Graduating Class of Western Illinois University in the May 10 Commencement Exercises. They were among more than 50 Caribbean students who earned degrees at all levels. The students were:

Kaitlyn Gaillard, Honors College, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with magna cum laude honors. She studied CAPE at SALCC (2018-2020).

Kayla Smith, Bachelor of Forensic Science. She studied CAPE at SALCC (2018-2020).

Jnnea Nobal, Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Science. He studied Agribusiness Entrepreneurship at SALCC (2020-2022).

"Caribbean students made history at WIU this cycle,” said WIU President Kristi Mindrup, “The region was well represented at all degree levels and with notable individual achievements. Students from St. Lucia and the rest of the Caribbean have demonstrated success in and out of the classroom, and have made a positive impact on the university community.”

Western Illinois University is one of SALCC's many partner institutions which provide our students with opportunities to further their education abroad. We look forward to hearing more success stories about our alumni all across the world.
