Samsung Investigating Galaxy S9 Touchscreen 'Dead Spots'

By Matthew Humphries

There seems to be a problem with the Galaxy S9$719.99 at Samung and Galaxy S9+$839.99 at Samsung, but thankfully, it isn't to do with the battery.

As Android Central reports, a number of S9/S9+ owners are reporting "dead spots" occurring on their smartphone's touchscreen. Areas near the top of the touchscreen are apparently becoming unresponsive and no longer detect taps or swipes. Resetting the phone doesn't fix the problem.

Samsung issued a statement which was spotted by Engadget. It states that the company is aware of "a limited number of reports of Galaxy S9/S9+ touchscreen responsiveness issues." We don't know how limited those reports are, but you can bet Samsung is already reviewing the manufacturing process and parts for its handsets in case there's a defect. The last thing it wants is tens of thousands of smartphones requiring screen replacements.

From the reports so far, it seems likely this is a touchscreen fault on the new Galaxy handsets and therefore Samsung will hopefully fix it for free.
