SLOC Inc. Celebrates Olympic Week

By SLOC

Braving the early morning heat, walkers took the following route: Start on Jeremie Street in front
of Castries Market, turning right into Chisel Street, and then right into Micoud Street, then
turning right into Peynier Street and head up the John Compton Highway. They then turned right
into Sans Souci along Desir Avenue and up L’Anse Road before turning left into La Clery,
crossing the John Compton Highway at the Vigie Roundabout before heading along Mandela
Avenue and ending on the Vigie Beach (opposite G.F.L. Charles Airport).
Following an aerobics warm-down session, the Saint Lucia Sailing Association conducted sailing
demonstrations for interested participants. Participants were also reminded about the importance
of sports, not only as a means of staying fit, but also building team spirit and instilling discipline.

From Monday to Saturday, a daily Olympic Quiz was hosted via the SLOC Inc. Facebook and
Instagram platforms and up to three winners were selected each day and gifted a token from
Olympic House. A Virtual Museum Exhibition was also posted on SLOC Inc.’s Facebook and
Instagram pages, highlighting memorabilia collected over the years. The President’s Message
was posted on Facebook and Instagram on Sunday, June 23.
Meanwhile, this year’s tree-planting exercises with students and teachers had to be cancelled
after schools which previously confirmed later notified the SLOC Inc. that end-of-term
examinations made it difficult to host the exercises.

Olympic Week ended on Sunday, June 23 (Olympic Day).
