Soufriere has been graced with a new Mayor

PRESS RELEASE - The town of Soufriere has been graced with a new Mayor. On Friday 10th September, 2021, history repeated itself as Mrs. Joan Hippolyte was sworn in as the female Mayor for the town. Also sworn in were the councillors; Teresa Prospere, Orlando Satchell, Chrishna St Brice, and Placide Lascaris.
Her Worship, Mayor Hippolyte is elated with the selection and looks forward to working with the councillors.
“I am honoured to serve the people. I endeavour to use our skills and talents to devise a structure to make Soufriere a better community” she uttered.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office with responsibility for Housing & Local Government, Hon. Richard Frederick, was also present at the swearing-in ceremony. He urged the team to think beyond the margins for goal attainment.
Hon. Frederick believes that the District Rep. Hon. Emma Hippolyte was careful in her selection of a gender balanced council and persons will be capable of making a difference in the constituency.
The Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) congratulates Mayor Hippolyte on her appointment and wishes her the success in her future endeavours. The Management of SRDF pledges its continued support to Local Government for the enrichment of the town of Soufriere.
