PRESS RELEASE – The Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Board of Directors. Mr. Ernest Augier is the new Chairman of the organization. Mr. Augier is a business professional with several years of thriving experience in Business Management.
At a press conference held at the office on Friday, September 17 th , 2021, Mr. Augier expressed his delight with the appointment and outlined his expectations for the organization and community.
“This appointment allows me to contribute further to Soufriere’s development. I think Soufriere needs persons who can contribute to its development. I am willing to gather the resources around to tackle the many issues and problems faced. I am saddened when I see elderly people sitting on the step at night without a place to sleep. I would love to see the organization exert some energy and resources towards elderly development. Emphasis will also be placed on youth development and education” he articulated.
The Chairman further noted that the new board comprises directors from a cross-sector of the Soufriere community. The directors include Mr. Hilary Charlemagne; a teacher and businessman, Mr. Kennedy Jean; a teacher and farmer, Mr. Innocent Aimable; a cultural activist, Mr. Acquinas Sylvester; associated with the fisherman and yachts and Dr. Thadee Alexis; a medical doctor. According to Mr. Augier, this selection was strategic in representing various interest groups.
“I am happy that Dr. Alexis is on the Board not just because he is a medical doctor from Soufriere, but he comes at the time when we are facing a pandemic and he adds a dimension to the mandate of the organization. So we will be using his expertise in trying to solve the issues around this pandemic. Sylvester plays a critical role in monitoring and providing feedback to find the issues impacting the development of the yachting sector in Soufriere.”
The Board will be conducting visits to the various sites to meet with the staff. Moreover, the Board looks forward to consulting with the Soufriere community.
