St. Jude Hospital advances healthcare standards with Accreditation Canada

In a decisive step toward strengthening healthcare in Saint Lucia, St. Jude Hospital recently concluded a five-day training workshop, facilitated in collaboration with Accreditation Canada. This intensive program, held at Coconut Bay Resort, focused on Risk Management, Quality Improvement, and Patient-Centered Care. Aimed at achieving accreditation readiness, the training underscores St. Jude Hospital’s dedication to bolstering healthcare standards across the nation.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of St. Jude Hospital, Lydia Atkins, described the training as pivotal for the hospital’s transition to its new site in Augier. “Our partnership with Accreditation Canada is a significant leap forward, ensuring St. Jude Hospital’s alignment with international healthcare standards. This training has equipped our staff to deliver even greater patient centered care as we advance our services in a new facility,” Atkins shared, noting the workshop's immediate and lasting impact on hospital operations.

Patricia Somers, Registered Nurse and Accreditation Canada Surveyor, highlighted the workshop's role in enhancing patient care standards to meet Saint Lucia’s evolving healthcare needs. “Healthcare demands are constantly changing, and it’s vital that our institutions adapt effectively. This training empowers healthcare teams to implement proactive, quality focused strategies that directly benefit patients and their communities,” Somers explained.

The Minister for Health, Wellness, and Elderly Affairs, Hon. Moses Jn Baptiste, commended St. Jude Hospital and Accreditation Canada for their collaborative effort to elevate healthcare quality in Saint Lucia. “This initiative is a testament to our shared commitment to robust healthcare services. We are witnessing a significant enhancement in healthcare delivery, one that reflects the governments dedication to the health and well-being of our people,” expressed Minister Jn Baptiste.

This comprehensive training marks a transformative milestone for St. Jude Hospital, paving the way for continued advancements in healthcare standards across Saint Lucia.
