St Lucia Fire Service will be having its first ever Summer Camp for secondary school aged children on the island

The Saint Lucia Fire Service will be hosting its first ever Summer Day Camp at the Saint Lucia Fire Service Training School in Vieux Fort, from August 7 – 11, 2023.

This inaugural camp will be held for one week, from Monday to Friday during the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. with participation by students from various secondary schools in the south of the island. 

“Although the intention is to reach students island wide, in this initial phase, we have decided to begin with the south of the island,” stated the Summer Camp Committee chairperson, Firefighter 451 Damian Jn. Baptiste. “These students will be exposed to an interactive, engaging and fun-filled program, which includes lessons in Basic Fire Safety, First Aid and other life skills.”

At the conclusion of the camp, the Department will also embark on its first ever mentorship program which will involve the participants of the camp and various fire officers from the different stations.

This initiative from the Saint Lucia Fire Service seeks to enhance its contribution to society and hopefully play a significant role in the rehabilitation and empowerment of the island’s youth.
