St Lucia recorded 127 new cases of covid, 9 deaths, 4 critical and 9 seriously ill

PRESS RELEASE - Today Thursday September 16, 2021 the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs confirms a total of 127 new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Wednesday September 15, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 464 samples.
This number of positive cases makes up 27.4% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 10, 344.
The Ministry of Health also reports seven new COVID-19 deaths and two COVID-19 related deaths. All of these deaths occurred during the period September 2, 2021 to September 14, 2021.
To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 106 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 42. COVID-19 death #100 is a 71 year old male from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #101 is a 75 year old male from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #102 is a 61 year old female from the Vieux-Fort district. COVID-19 death #103 is a 68 year old female from the Micoud district. COVID-19 death #104 is a 68 year old female from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #105 is a 76 year old male from the Soufriere district. COVID-19 death #106 is a 74 year old male from the Vieux-Fort district.
COVID-19 related death #41 is a 36 year old female from the Dennery district. COVID-19 related death #42 is a 55 year old male from the Castries district.
The Ministry of Health extends condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of all of these individuals.
Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 120 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in country to date to 2403. Four of these active cases are currently critical and nine of them are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.
To date, a total of 35, 464 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 28, 838 have received the second dose. A total of 7, 130 individuals have received the first dose and 85 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
Tomorrow Friday, September 17, 2021 the vaccine will be given at the Jacmel Wellness Centre, Gros-Islet Human Resource Centre, St. Anthony’s Medical Centre at Sunny Acres, Soufriere Hospital and Inno Care on Clarke Street, Vieux-Fort from 9am to 4pm.
Individuals can also call the Community Wellness Centre to make an appointment to get vaccinated.
