St Lucia recorded 156 new cases of covid-19

Today Saturday, August 21, 2021, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs confirms 156
new cases of COVID-19. These cases are from a total of 550 samples processed at the Ezra Long
Laboratory on Friday, August 20, 2021. These cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 7111.
The Ministry of Health also received confirmation of 34 individuals who have recovered from COVID- 19.
This brings the total number of active cases currently on record in-country to 1315. Four of these active cases are in critical care at the Respiratory Hospital.
To date, a total of 34, 601 first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered and 27, 222-second doses.
On Monday, August 23, 2021, the Ministry of Health will commence the administering ofthe Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to the population. The Pfizer vaccine will be available at all COVID-19 vaccination sites and community wellness centres.
Individuals will now be provided with a choice when taking the COVID-19 vaccine. Let us all make the decision to get vaccinated to protect ourselves, family, friends and others from the COVID-19 virus.
