BREAKING NEWS -  St Lucia records 103 new cases of coronavirus, 18 deaths, 3 critical and 11 seriously ill

PRESS RELEASE - Today Tuesday September 21, 2021 the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs confirms a total of 103 new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Monday September 20, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 281 samples. This number of positive cases makes up 36.7% of all the samples processed on that date.

These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 10, 727.

The Ministry of Health also reports seventeen new COVID-19 deaths and one COVID-19 related death. All of these deaths occurred during the period September 14, 2021 to September 19, 2021 and none of these individuals were fully vaccinated.

To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 125 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 43.

COVID-19 death #109 is a 74 year old female from the Gros-Islet district. COVID-19 death #110 is a 47 year old male from the Vieux-Fort district. COVID-19 death #111 is a 48 year old female from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #112 is an 85 year old female from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #113 is a 38 year old male from the Vieux-Fort district. COVID-19 death #114 is a 31 year old female from the Gros-Islet district. COVID-19 death #115 is a 67 year old female from the Vieux-Fort district. COVID-19 death #116 is a 67 year old male from the Vieux-Fort district. COVID-19 death #117 is an 84 year old male from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #118 is a 53 year old female from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #119 is a 62 year old male from the Babonneau district.

COVID-19 death #120 is a 50 year old male from the Babonneau district. COVID-19 death #121 is an 84 year old male from the Dennery district. COVID-19 death #122 is a 66 year old male from the Vieux-Fort district. COVID-19 death #123 is a 64 year old female from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #124 is an 87 year old male from the Laborie district. COVID-19 death #125 is a 71 year old female from the Anse La Raye district.

COVID-19 related death #43 is a 55 year old male from the Choiseul district. The Ministry of Health extends condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of all of these individuals.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 84 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in country to 2182. Three of these active cases are currently critical and eleven of them are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 35, 582 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 29, 065 have received the second dose. A total of 8, 000 individuals have received the first dose and 300 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Tomorrow Wednesday, September 22, 2021 the vaccine will be given at the Vigie Sports Complex, Dennery Mothers’ Pre-School and St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Vieux-Fort from 9 am to 4 pm.

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs will continue providing daily updates to the public as new information becomes available.
