St Lucian shot dead in Martinique

A 35-year-old man, according to police, died this Sunday morning (September 25, 2022) at the Pierre Zobda Quitman Hospital in Fort-de-France. Police confirmed his death at around 7 a.m. The victim, born in Castries (Saint Lucia), was in the Four à Chaux district of Lamentin, on the sidelines of an evening, when he was hit by gunshots. Investigators found three bullet holes in the back. The man was already in a serious situation during his transportation to the city's hospital.

The investigation promises to be complicated because of the "habits". Witnesses are rare and when they can testify, they prefer to remain silent for fear of reprisals.

This new violent death brings to 22 the number of people killed in Martinique since January 1, 2022, and the second in four days.
