St.Lucia's 44th Independence Day Celebration turned out to be a traumatic day for the island.

What was supposed to be a day of celebration for the people of Saint Lucia, became a very traumatic day for the island with a series of unfortunate events. Among the numerous emergency responses made by the Saint Lucia Fire Service on February 22, several were made to acts of violence such as alleged shooting incidents and also vehicular incidents island wide.

A response was made from the Dennery Fire Station to Thomazo, in Dennery, for a head on collision between a motorcycle and a minibus at approximately 1:30 p.m.

The arriving personnel found one male individual, who was identified as the rider of the motorcycle, lying on the road. A rapid assessment revealed that the patient sustained abrasions to his body and an apparent fracture to one of his legs. He was immobilized on a spine board and provided rapid emergency transportation to a medical facility.
