Suspected drowning at Anse Ger, Micoud

Police are investigating a suspected drowning which occurred at Anse Ger, Micoud on Sunday . The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Cornnie Baptiste, a resident of Anse Ger, Micoud.
The youngster graduated from the Anse Ger Secondary School earlier this year and had big dreams.
The suspected drowning occurred at the Canelles Beach when he ventured into the water but never resurfaced. Reports are that he went to collect whelks or ‘bwigo’ and encountered difficulty when a wave knocked him down.
The victim was transported to St. Jude Hospital, where a medical practitioner pronounced him dead. The Saint Lucia Fire Service responded to the destress call at about 5:20 pm. Divers in the area assisted the fire officers in the search of the body.
