Paul Collymore, Chief Executive Officer of The Landings Resort and Spa, described the past year as “wonderful”, noting that many accomplishments were achieved through excellent team work. He said the property hopes to capitalize on the success of the past to make the on-the-job experience better for team members. “In 2024, there is so much more that we can do together, and, in the next five years and beyond, The Landings will be re-imagined into something that you will want to continue to be a part of,” Collymore told team members. “To all 286 of you, thank you for your outstanding work.” Guest speaker, Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Minister for Tourism, applauded the leadership and management of the luxury property for recognizing the outstanding employees for their excellent
and dedicated contributions to the island’s important tourism sector. “Sixty percent of the the GDP (gross domestic product) of Saint Lucia is related to the tourism industry,” Hon. Dr. Hilaire said in his remarks at the ceremony. “It means that without the tourism industry, this country will not be able to function the way it does.” The Tourism Minister congratulated the winners, and urged them to continue dedicating themselves to excellence. He also encouraged them to become game-changers by owning their stake in the tourism sector. “As participants, as employees within the tourism industry, continue to excel and to rise in your organizations,” he said. “For those of you who have the entrepreneurial spirit, start your own businesses within the tourism industry. The Government is spending a lot of resources in community tourism in supporting Saint Lucians (who) want to engage in businesses in the tourism industry.”
