The Landings Carnival Just Keeps Getting Better!

The Landings Resort and Spa kept its Carnival tradition alive this year when the property
hosted its Carnival Parade on Friday, July 21.
This year’s theme was “Saint Lucia in all its Splendour”, and featured costumes depicting the
national bird, the Amazona Versicolor; the famous Pitons; and popular flowers found in Saint
Lucia.
Aside from the adults, the children were also part of the fun, with some special guests from this
year’s Kiddies Carnival’s “Treasures of the Sea” joining the festivities.
This year’s featured performer was Ezra D’funmachine Augustin, with whom the guests had no
difficulty following along as he sang some of his favourite hit songs. Ezra rocked the crowd as
usual, and many of the guests got the opportunity to snap some keepsake selfies with the popular
Saint Lucian soca artiste.
Guest Richard George, who is originally from Trinidad and Tobago, but lives in Florida, said he
came to Saint Lucia on a family vacation, noting that the Carnival experience at The Landings
Resort and Spa was an enjoyable one.
“My extended family started visiting different islands to see which one is the best. Carnival at
The Landings was great. Some of my family members don’t even play Carnival in Trinidad, but
they were jumping up here. What we enjoyed the most was the music from the band. I liked how
special attention was paid to the kids, which is most important to me.”
Homeowner Sveenie Pimlott, who shared the experience with her husband and two children,
described the activity as fantastic, and had rave reviews for the general ambience at the property.
“We love Saint Lucia,” said Mrs Pimlott. “The weather has always been good, even though
we’re in the rainy season. But The Landings is extra special: the facilities they have here are
phenomenal. The kids were playing tennis and making use of the Kids Club. So many things to
choose from and the beach is just right here. The accommodation is amazing, just actually
second to none, really.”
But there was just something about the Carnival experience that she said that already has her
family setting their sights on next year’s Carnival at the property.
“The Landings Carnival was amazing. It was a really nice little snapshot of what the Carnival is.
So, the children got to experience what the island offers, and it was so digestible for them. The
beverages were worth it. We were provided with different types of rums. My favourite was
definitely the coconut rum. We’ll be back, absolutely. It’s on the top of our list. Everybody had
fun and the deejay was amazing.”
Meanwhile, Aunty Cathy from the Kids Club has noted the marked improvements in this year’s
activity: “It was epic this year. We had the guests from all over the world United Sates, England,
Guyana, Martinique, and Trinidad just to name a few countries -- it was good. This was the best
year. We already have great ideas for next year’s parade.”
Aunty Juan from the Kids Club also shared similar sentiments: “I think this year’s event was
much better than last year’s. It was bigger and better, and I know next year will be even bigger.”
Assistant General Manager, Sannicia Sammy, shared that this parade was about our families,
bringing everyone together, and sharing our Saint Lucian culture.
“The mix of colours in the costumes and the music in the air brought everyone alive,” Sammy
said. “Our Carnival Parade was a beautiful event, and it brought joy to our team who worked so
hard to put this together when we saw our guests of all ages having fun together.”
The management and staff of The Landings Resort and Spa thank our sponsors for this year’s
Carnival celebrations -- Blue Waters and St. Lucia Distillers Ltd. -- for their continued support.
