"The seismicity of volcanic origin has decreased" in Martinique these last 7 days

Between April 30 and May 7, 2021, the OVSM recorded "at least 79 volcano-tectonic earthquakes of magnitude less than or equal to 1.2" . They were located inside the Pelée volcano in Saint-Pierre .
The previous week (between April 23 and 30, 2021), this seismicity had "sharply increased. At least 312 earthquakes" of the same type were still observed inside the building, "including 241 between the 27th and April 29 with nearly 163 earthquakes on April 28 " .
Specialists specify that "during phases of volcanic reactivation, periods of higher seismic activity often alternate with phases of weaker seismicity. Seismicity above the base level is always recorded" .
However, "no other change was noted in the activity of Mount Pelée" .
