UWP says SLP Continues to Govern using Lies and Deceit- Richard Frederick must Resign as a Minister!

Since the last sitting of Parliament which was held on February 1st, 2022, Saint Lucians from all walks of life and across both political divides have publicly expressed their disgust and disappointment with the immature and despicable behavior displayed by the members of the SLP in Parliament, in particular the distasteful conduct by the 2 so called Independent Ministers.

Of the many instances of poor behavior during the days sitting of Parliament, was the use of an obscenity by Richard Frederick directed at the Leader of the Opposition Hon. Allen Chastanet upon the conclusion of his presentation. As Richard Frederick concluded his remarks, the public clearly heard him say “Thank You Mr. Speaker, I’ll be back” and as he took his seat his microphone which was still on captured him using the “F word” in reference to Hon. Allen Chastanet.

Instead of apologizing to the parliament and public for the use of this unacceptable word as a Parliamentarian and a Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister, as expected Richard Frederick resorted to telling lies to try to absolve himself of his wrong doing.

At a recent ceremony, Richard Frederick took the opportunity to try to clear the air regarding the issue by stating that the live recording from parliament which captured him using this expletive was manipulated by operatives of the United Workers Party.

It must be noted that journalists from both Choice TV and HTS, both stations which tend to report heavily in favor of the SLP independently verified that contrary to Richard Frederick’s claims the recording was not tampered with.

This trend of blatantly lying to the public by SLP Ministers even when there is proof to show that they are indeed lying, seems to have originated from Prime Minister Philip J Pierre himself.

Remember Pierre’s promise of $1500 to each and every Saint Lucian whilst in Opposition as part of COVID-19 income support? Soon after being elected when asked about the delivery of this promise, Prime Minister Pierre claimed on national radio that he had never made such a promise. The recordings are there for all to see and hear. What about his promise to refund all Saint Lucians that the Government owes $5000 or less in Income Tax Returns within his first 100 days in office? Has that promise been delivered? And what about the bonus which Prime Minister Pierre promised to all Frontline workers if he were to be elected. Has this promise been fulfilled?

Every passing day it becomes clearer that the SLP’s only plan is to govern using lies and deceit. This trend of behavior is totally unacceptable from a Government which promised to Put People First. We call on Prime Minister Pierre to immediately fire Richard Frederick or demand his resignation.
