What’s Happening? Lucian Carnival 2024

• There have been some adjustment to the Lucian Carnival Calendar as a result of the passage of Hurricane Beryl. The new dates for events are as follows:
  • Inter-Commercial Calypso Competition will now be held on Friday July 5th, from 6pm at the National Culltural Centre, making it the perfect after-work lime. 
  • Groovy & Power Soca Monarch Competition will now be held on Saturday July 6th, from 8pm at the SAB, Vigie.
  • Junior Parade of the Bands will remain on Sunday, July 7th. The parade will begin at Serenity Park from 11 am. 
  • Republic Bank National Panorama Competition will remain on Sunday 7th from 8pm at the SAB, Vigie.
  • King and Queen of the Bands will remain on Monday July 8th from 8pm at the SAB, Vigie.
  • Calypso Monarch Competition will now be held on Saturday July 13th from 8pm at the SAB, Vigie.
  • Mas in the City will be held from Wednesday, July 10th, to Friday, July 12th
  • J’Ouvert will remain on Monday, July 15th.
  • Parade of the Bands will remain on Monday, July 15th, and Tuesday, July 16th.

1. Inter-Commercial Calypso Competition

• • Inter - Commercial Calypso will be held this Friday, July 5 at the National Cultural Centre
  • The show starts at 6 pm, making it the best Carnival after-work lime.
  • The companies participating in this year’s Inter-Commercial Calypso competition listed in order of appearance are:

2. Groovy and Power Soca Monarch – Saturday, July 6

• • Date: Saturday, July 6
  • Time: 8 pm
  • Venue: SAB, Vigie
  • Ticket: Tickets cost $60 regular and $150 VIP
  • Ticket Outlets: The Cell outlets island wide and Steve’s Barbershop.
  • The artistes will go against defending monarchs, Arthur Allain, for the Groovy Soca Monarch title, and Imran Nerdy for the Power Soca Monarch.

3. Junior Carnival - Sunday, July 7

• Junior Carnival climaxes with the annual Junior Carnival Parade, after a packed season of activities including National Schools Calypso Monarch, Schools Panorama Festival, and the Schools Tour.
• The parade will begin at Serenity Park from 10 am
• 10 bands will be participating in this year’s parade

11. Republic Bank National Panorama Competition – Sunday July 7,

    • Time: 8 pm
    • Venue: SAB, Vigie
    • Ticket: Tickets cost $30 and $15 for kids
    • Ticket Outlets: The Cell outlets island wide and Steve’s Barbershop.
    • The current reigning Panorama Champion is Courts Babbonneau Steel Orchestra
    • 5 bands will compete in this year’s competition. The order of appearance is:

12. King & Queen of the Bands – Monday, July 8

• • Date: Monday, July 8
  • Time: 8 pm
  • Venue: SAB, Vigie
  • Ticket: FREE
  • There will be a display of over 18 King and Queen of the Band costumes.
  • Patrons will also enjoy performances DYP and top Saint Lucian Soca and Dennery Segment artistes.

13. National Calypso Monarch

• • Date: Saturday, July 13
  • Time: 8 pm
  • Venue: SAB, Vigie
  • Ticket: Tickets cost $60 regular and $150 VIP
  • Ticket Outlets: The Cell outlets island wide and Steve’s Barbershop.
  • Competing Calypsonians will go against the defending monarch; Ti-Blacks.
  • This year’s competition features 6 former monarchs: Dezral, Educator, Menell, Solange, TC Brown, and Ti Carro.
  • The artistes competing in this year’s competition are as follows:

15. J’Ouvert
    • J’ouvert starts off the parade for Lucian Carnival.
    • The parade will begin from 4 am from the SAAB in Vigie, and at Bananes Bay.
    • The full parade route and list of J’ouvert Bands will be distributed in the coming days.

15. Parade of the Bands

• Lucian Carnival culminates in two days of revelry on Monday, July 15, and on Tuesday, July 16.
• 11 bands have been confirmed for the 2024 Parade of the Bands
• The parade will begin from Choc, Castries and go through the city and return to Choc
• Parade of the Bands will commence from 10 am on Monday, July 15, and 11 am on Tuesday, July 16.
