Woman dies after her home caught fire

The St Lucia fire department responded to a house fire in Tapion, Castries on Friday morning at 4:20 am.
A resident in the area told SNN that a neighbor in the community saw the smoke coming out of the house. He called the fire service and then started to blow in the community to alert everyone.
The fire officers found the blaze contained to the Western side of a 40X43 feet structure raised on pillars.
Upon investigation, the officers found the 75 year old lying on her back with no vital signs.
She was transported to OKEU hospital where she was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.
According to the resident, the lady was alone at the time of the fire.
