In a distressing incident on Wednesday, emergency personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) Headquarters displayed exemplary responsiveness as they rushed to the aid of a 7-year-old boy struck by a pickup truck on St. Louis Street, Castries.

The SLFS promptly mobilized, deploying both a fire truck and an ambulance upon receiving the distressing call at approximately 4:00 p.m. Their swift and coordinated response underlines their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

The young boy, donned in his school uniform, was carefully attended to by the responders. Despite the alarming nature of the situation, he was found to be in stable condition. The SLFS team efficiently and compassionately transported him to the OKEU Hospital for further medical assessment and treatment.

Initial reports indicate that the youngster sustained abrasions to his lower body, emphasizing the importance of caution and vigilance on our roadways, especially in areas frequented by pedestrians, particularly children.
