Young St Lucian Fiction Writer Seeks to Make Her Mark
By Verna Cyril
PRESS RELEASE - A young Saint Lucian author is seeking to make a name for herself in the literary world as a fiction writer.
Thirty-two year old Verna Cyril, currently has two books trending on Amazon and is working on a third.
Verna, who is married, specializes in romantic, historical and fantasy fiction, says she was fascinated by the written word from a very young age and read profusely anything in print that she could lay her hands on.
She adds: “As time went by my knowledge of the world and the intricacies of human behaviour increased and fired my imagination to express myself in the fantasy of conjuring stories that were graphic and spell-binding much to the delight of family members and a growing circle of friends and admirers”.
The encouragement she got from well-wishers led her to write her first novel, a romance, in which she implicitly endorses the belief that love is capable of surmounting all barriers.
In this book, “Heart of a Slave” she weaves fantasy into a robust adventure, exploring the dynamics of the historical era in which the story is set, in a spectacular and credible tale.
“Heart of a slave” was published on Amazon in March 2020 and garnered several positive and interesting reviews.
Verna followed that up last month with the publication of her second novel, “Laird of the Underworld”, an epic fantasy tale of arranged marriage, action, and suspense.
Verna was recently offered an opportunity to write her first series with Dragonblade Publishing of the United States, an international publishing house which specializes in only historical romance authors.
Verna is fascinated by history and nature. She said: “I love reading a good book and, to those of you who are curious, I do have a favourite author’s list. A few of them are Julie Garwood, Johanna Lindsay and Judith McNaught. I am also a big fan of the HBO show ‘Outlander’. In my quiet time, I enjoy listening to my favourite genre of music which, funnily, happens to be 80’s music and Celtic. Along the way, I make time to write”.
Other than the hours she spends daily reading, writing and researching, Verna devotes time for her closely-knit and supportive family, especially being outdoors with them and enjoying nature. Verna is amiable and loves meeting her readers and other people as there is much that she learns from them in intimate one-on-one discourse.
Both “Heart of a Slave” and “Laird of the Underworld” are currently available on Amazon. Signed hard copies of “Heart of a Slave” are available with her and will soon be available in local bookstores.
